This program will cover in details the approach to the diagnosis and management of Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) including mechanical ventilation. At the completion of this program, the participant will be able to: 1) Understand the definition of ARDS based on Berlin's criteria 2) Understand the targets of protective lung strategy. 3) Apply protective lung strategy to ARDS patients. 4) Decide when to use low versus high level of PEEP in the management of ARDS. 5) Understand the benefit of recruitment maneuvers in ARDS. 6) Decide when to do prone position for ARDS patients. 7) Consider the use of ECMO for severe ARDS patients. 8) Decide when and how to use steroids in ARDS based on the latest evidence.
